IT WAS a case of the hard yards paying off when Lancaster’s under 15 netball team defeated Nagambie 48-34 in the Kyabram District Netball League grand final.
Coach Sandy Carver said the ambitious team played strongly from the start of the game.
‘‘Everyone of them played well,’’ she said.
‘‘They had their eye on the prize.
‘‘Throughout the game they defended hard and made Nagambie work for the ball.’’
Carver said the team was strong across the court however elements of their game, such as their defence and shooting accuracy, took them to another level.
And Carver said the win came as no surprise.
She said all members of the young side had shown great dedication to continuous improvement throughout the year.
‘‘The club is really proud,’’ she said.
‘‘They’ve just quietly gone about their business and had a common goal.’’
Alanah Sing was awarded best on court for her work as goal attack.
Other award winners were Ella Brennan as goal shooter and Ebony Arnold as centre.
Carver said she was now looking forward to seeing what the future would hold for the talented side, four of whom would be moving up to the club’s under 17s next year.
‘‘Hopefully with the remaining six we can get to and win another grand final,’’ she said.
