Kyabram playing coach Paul Newman was all smiles following Sunday’s premiership win.
The Bombers’ coach played a pivotal role in the victory and said he was elated with the outcome.
“We didn’t expect to have such a great season at the beginning, but as time went on we saw how well we were playing and confidence grew,” he said.
“We turned up today with the expectation to win, as we do every game. I think the confidence served us well.”
Newman said it was a privilege to coach such a quality group of players.
“There is an unbelievable amount of depth in the squad,” he said.
‘Not just the players that took the field today, but everyone who has made this achievement possible.
“I’m extremely proud of everyone. We pushed through the rough patches and now we have a story we can talk about for years to come.”
Newman said the season was an emotional rollercoaster.
“I think everyone is extremely relieved that the season has come to an end. There was so much anticipation and pressure, it’s a great feeling to get the result,” he said.
“The entire club worked so hard to make this happen. The amount of behind the scenes work is unbelievable.
“We got our just rewards for being the best and most consistent side all year.”
Newman said he still had some thinking to do about his future with the club.
“I’ll be back next season. I love coaching and I’ll keep coming back for as long as they will have me.
“I’m unsure about the playing, that remains to be seen.”
