The Gift Night is on tonight, please make sure you are there to support this important cause.

Saturday pennant starts this week.

All players please look carefully at the board to see where you are playing and if you are travelling, what time you are leaving.

Thanks to the selectors for all their efforts in putting the teams together.

The first week of the THK triples went well.

It’s at Hilltop this week. Make sure your team is right. Please be available if you are asked to help make up a team.

There are many tournaments and GVBD events apart from pennant on at the moment.

Flyers are posted on the noticeboards for our members to peruse and to enter themselves in these events.

Georgia, our development officer, has worked on sponsorship and the barefoot bowls which starts on Wednesday, October 12.

All Members who can organise a family/ friends or a work team should contact Georgia at developmentofficer@kyabram.com or ring the club at 5852 1096.

We need the help of everybody to make our goals for the club successful.

The winners of the men’s club pairs are David Cartwright and Bill Hatzie.

They deservedly won on a playoff end from Mal Williams and Rob Sceney.

St Augustine’s staff have booked the bowls club through Georgia for a function on Friday October 7.

We need four helpers for the bar and setting up the bowling part of the afternoon.

The GVBD 60 and over pairs draw is out for the ladies.

The draw for the ladies Championship is up. The first round is on Friday.

Pennant training for everyone continues on Thursday.

Drills and practice opportunities will be set up on one green with the other being for teams and general practice.

The Thursday night barbecue will continue this week.

The 100-up list, with all those who paid up early is on the board. Any other players who want to play in the 100-up please put your name on the list. It closes this Friday.

Managers and interested people should contact Mal Williams for help with submitting pennant scores online to the GVBD.

Thanks to the members who helped out on Wednesday and gave us a full field for the THK Triples.

Places for anyone who wants to be a permanent reserve rather than playing every week in the THK triples are available.

Please get you names phone numbers and email addresses to Rob Sceney kyabrambowlsclub@bigpond.com to be on this list.

Pairs final

Skipper David Cartwright and leader Bill Hatzie won a final that was won, then drawn and then won again.

They defeated Mal Williams and Rob Sceney by one shot on an extra end after the scores were level after 18 ends.

The teams swapped singles until the sixth end, where David and Bill grabbed a three to take them to a 6-3 lead.

Bill Hatzie led well and was well backed up by his skipper David.

Rob Sceney struggled during the game but his partner and leader Mal Williams kept them in it until the 13th end.

The score at that time was 10-9 in David and Bill’s favour.

Bill and David skipped away to an 18-9 lead on the 16th end and looked home comfortably.

Mal and Rob grabbed a seven on the 17th end and the game was afoot.

Another two on the 18th and last end meant it was a draw and an extra end was needed to decide a winner.

David drew shot with his last bowl to confirm that his team were the winners on the day. Both Bill and David played well and thoroughly deserved their popular win.
