In Banjo’s footsteps

Kyabram Lions Club members manned the barbecue to provide lunch at the festivities.

Kyabram Lions Club will once again have its annual Around The Campfire Bush Poets night.

Bush Verse Group president Les Parkinson said he expected a lot of young and old talent to grace the stage.

‘‘We have had a lot of interest from people wanting to be involved. So there should be something for everyone,’’ Mr Parkinson said.

‘‘The Bush Verse Group has been operating for almost 21 years.’’

With an average crowd of more than 100, the night is one of the biggest events in the Kyabram social calendar and Mr Parkinson expected this year to be as big as ever.

‘‘It’s local people getting into poetry and just enjoying a good night,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s a great night’s entertainment and the crowd really gets into it. We have Lions members and people coming from all over the district and just for this night. It’s a good friendly atmosphere and a good night.’

“There has been great feedback in previous years. People have told us that it’s a night they look forward to.’

There will also be a special award to honour founding member of Kyabram Bush Verse Group – Betty Olle.

The night is on Thursday, October 13, at the Kyabram Club from 7 pm.

Entry is $15 for adults and $5 for children and includes a light supper.

To book, call Les Parkinson on 5852 2281.
