KYABRAM-based outfit The Wedge flew home for third in the 70mph class.
Skier Brent Dunstall said getting a big result in their local race was a great achievement for the team.
‘‘It’s the first time we’ve been up there in the top three of the Southern 80,’’ he said.
‘‘My teammate (Scott Collins) has been skiing for ever and it’s the first time he’s been up the top of a big race so we’re happy.’’
The Wedge team said they had to fight through the weather on their way to the podium.
‘‘It was a really good run, it started out pretty smooth and it was actually pretty smooth a lot of the way down,’’ Dunstall said.
‘‘We had a little bit of rain, we went through a little storm actually, when that cleared out we had a nice run home.
‘‘It’s great to get a nice result at our little home race, so it’s happy days.’’
