Basketball Kyabram’s Championship finals contenders are now set for Sunday and Monday at Kyabram Sports and Entertainment Centre.

BASKETBALL Kyabram’s Championship finals contenders are now set for Sunday and Monday at Kyabram Sports and Entertainment Centre, following a busy night of preliminary finals on Monday night.

Basketball Kyabram director Michael Maskell said spectators can expect tight and enthralling contests.

The Championship games will start with the Grade 3-4s playing at noon on Sunday and finish around 8.30pm on Monday after the 7-9s champions are decided.

In between there will be a spectacular Jam Session at Kyabram Sports and Entertainment Centre on Sunday in which the whole community is invited to join in.

“If you are thinking you’d like to give basketball a try, then this is definitely the event for you,” Maskell said.

“In the spirit of the NBA All Star weekend, we’ll have competitions for youngsters to show off their talent, but - most of all – for them to have lots of fun.

“There will be three-point competitions, a skills challenge and an H-O-R-S-E competition, with prizes up for grabs for winners.

“All this fun surrounds the Championship match-up between the two top teams in the Grade 3-4 division which is sure to draw a massive crowd.”

Entry to participate in the Jam Session is free to Basketball Kyabram members and just $2 for non-members.

Maskell said the competition has been exceptional over the past two terms and sets up a thrilling championship long weekend.

“The standard has progressively improved as many new players to the sport have learned the game and built their skills,” Maskell said.

“There have been plenty of high quality games throughout the tournament that showcase how far local basketball has come in a short period.”

"It is going to be an awesome day and I hope that you all come down to celebrate a great summer of BK basketball.”
