Kyabram Black Under 16s
THE KY Black boys played good team football and recorded an impressive nail biter against Echuca Green. The difference came down to one of the best solo efforts some have seen in Kyabram junior football – 11 goals to Ethan Palma-Ludeman.
Wez Hill playing his first game showed his class and was winning the ball in the ruck or at centre half-back.
The Ky Black boys teamed together and kept giving off to first options or putting their opponents under pressure. Liam Dillon, Ryan Cox and Noah Sewell were also solid contributors throughout the game and were able to win the ball at ground level.
Some strong marks and clever kicks to team mates by Ricky Glass in defence helped Kyabram throughout the game.
The last quarter saw both teams start to tire but neither side would give in. Again it went goal for goal with one of the highlights being Ethan Palma-Ludeman kicking a torpedo goal over the pack from over 60 metres out.
Echuca pulled ahead with only three minutes left on the clock.
Noah Sewell kicked quickly out of a pack and found Ethan Palma-Ludeman again with just over a minute to play. Ethan kicked truly from about 40 metres out on a 45-degree angle to put the boys in front with the game coming to a close by the time the ball had been returned to the middle.
The goal kickers were Ethan Palma-Ludeman 11 and Jack Dunn 1. The awards went to Ethan Palma-Ludeman, Mitch Gugliotti, Wez Hill, Noah Sewell, Ryan Cox and Ricky Glass.
Kyabram Red Under 16s
KY RED footballers played poorly against a younger and smaller opposition and paid the price with a disappointing loss against Shepp Swans.
Our first quarter lacked effort with the Swans half-back line continually rebounding and giving their forwards opportunities.
Jayden Fitzgerald stood tall at centre half-back spoiling many opposition marks for three quarters before being shifted forward and taking some strong marks of his own.
Our onball brigade was led by a best on field effort by Aidan Robinson. His ruck work also saw some classy clearances with Daniel Anderson and Connor Hawes also solid contributors all day.
Cooper Gentle and Curtis Walsh were both good targets up forward with Curtis showing aerial skills as well as his ground level ability to win the ball. Izac Ferguson, Jayden Fitzgerald and Sam Elliott won their share of contests across our half-back line to also feed our forward line.
Daniel Anderson and Tom Clark goaled early in the final quarter and gave the boys some hope of an upset but the Swans continued to push numbers behind the play and thwarted our forward pushes. Jayden Fitzgerald finished with a goal on the final siren.
Our goal kickers were Aidan Robinson, Tom Clark, Daniel Anderson and Jayden Fitzgerald. The awards went to Aidan Robinson, Connor Hawes, Daniel Anderson, Curtis Walsh and Jayden Fitzgerald.
