THE Kyabram Sportstar nominations for April-July are in.
■ James Woods – Athletics
James become a National Champion in April, competing in the U15 Pole Vault at the Australian Athletic Championships in Sydney. James jumped 3.3m to win the event and be crowned the National Champion.
■ Helen Hastie — Croquet
Helen won the Goulburn Valley Association Section 3 Championship held in Shepparton over 2 days. Helen went on to represent the GVCA at the Regional Championships.
■ Rajwinder Singh — Seniors Athletics
Rajwinder competed in the World Masters Athletic Championship in South Korea winning a Silver Medal in the Shot Put event throwing 11.75mtrs.
■ Cameron Kelly – Golf Croquet
Cameron won the Champion of Champions title in the GVCA Section 2 event. Cameron then went on to represent the GVCA at the Regional Championships.
■ Shani Clarke – Netball
Shani played her 200th game for the KFNC. Sharni had only missed 3 seasons since she joined the club in 2003 at age 16. Sharni has been part of 5 premierships with the Kyabram Team.
■ Dylan and Corey Nexhip – Netball.
After playing their part in Victoria winning the National Title both boys were selected in the Australian National Team. Only 11 players were picked in the National Team these 2 boys being among them.
■ Ross Laurenson – Football
Ross played his 300th game for the Lancaster Football Club being a one club player and being part of three premierships over the 300 games.
■ Liam Ogden – Football
Liam played his 150th Senior game with the Kyabram Football Club. A product of the football clubs junior ranks he has also represented the GVFL on several occasions.
■ Kevin Bell – Masters Athletics
Kevin has been competing in the Masters Cross Country and Triathlons. In the previous 18 months Kevin had achieved a remarkable seven second placings in Triathlons which have varied from 500mtr to 1.9km swims, 20km to 90km bike rides and 5km to 21.1km runs. These placings were enough to win him the Victorian State Series Triathlon Championship in his age group.
■ Mackinley Glover – Reining.
Mackinley, aged 15 at the time, competed in the Victorian Reining Horse Association State Championships winning 3 events including the Michelle Halliwell Memorial Ladies Class, the Gippsland Solar Rookie Level 2 and the Greenrider Level 2 coming a close second in the 14-18 Youth Reining.
■ Hunter Glover – Reining.
Hunter, aged 13, also competed in the Victorian Championships winning Reserve Champion for both the Greenrider Class Level 1 and the 13 and under Youth Reining and coming 3rd in the VRHA Greenrider Class.
■ Herb Prior – Lawn Bowls
Herb was inducted into the Goulburn Valley Bowls Association Hall of Fame after more than 50 years playing the game.
■ Miles Gould - Golf
Miles won the Valley View Golf Men’s A Grade Championship.
■ Belinda Lees – Netball
Belinda played her 100th game for the Kyabram Football Netball Club. Not only playing 100 games in the top team Belinda was also playing coach at the helm for 3 Premierships achieved in 2014, 2015, 2016.
■ Rob George – Indoor Bias Bowls
Rob won the Goulburn Valley Indoor Bias Bowls Singles Championship.
In June Rob was also selected in the Victorian Indoor Bowls Team to play in the National Championships in Tasmania in August.
■ Brenton Gray – Football
Brenton played his 200th game for the Stanhope Football Club. In that time he played in 2 Premierships, has won five Club Best and Fairest awards and is currently the Senior Coach.
■ Riley Ironside – Football
Riley was selected in the Victorian Country U16 Football Team to play in the NAB AFL National Championships.
■ Bailey Waasdrop – Football
Bailey 17 years old made his TAC Cup debut for the Bendigo Pioneers against Geelong Falcons.
■ Steph Vick – Netball
Steph played her 150th game of netball with the Kyabram Football Netball Club.
■ Lauren Pryde – Netball
Lauren played her 200th game of netball with the Kyabram Football Netball Club.
■ Harley Reid – Football
Tongala Junior Footballer Harley was selected in the School Sports Victoria 12 years and under football team to play in the National Championships played in Darwin in August.
■ Zac Norris – Football
Zac was selected to play in the U19 Victorian Country football team. Zac helped the team win its fourth straight Challenge Cup playing in the ruck and spending some time in the forward line.
■ Robert George – Indoor Bias Bowls
Rob won the Kyabram Champion Singles title this year going on to win the Goulburn Valley Indoor Bias Bowls Champion of Champions Title and then going on to State Championships getting to the Semi Finals of the Champion of Champions Single event.
Rob with three other Goulburn Valley players won a State Title the Victorian 4’s event which Rob skippered.
■ Helen Emery – Golf
Helen has done it again winning the Valley View Open Ladies Club Championship …… for the 16th time, outstanding effort.
■ Rajwinder Singh – Seniors Athletics
Rajwinder competing in the Australian Masters Athletic Championships held in Darwin won a Gold Medal in the 50-55 years age group Shotput event throwing 12.54mtrs.
■ Tori Glass – Pony Club
Tori qualified for the Pony Club Association of Victoria’s team to compete at the National Championships in September. Tori qualified by coming 2nd in C Grade and took out the C Grade team section at the Victorian State Championships.
■ Stacey McGill – Netball
Stacey has played all her netball with the Tongala Football Netball Club playing her 300th game in July, Stacey has played senior netball since she was 17 years old.
■ Kyabram Knights Soccer Club U14 Boys Team.
The U14 Boys Team won a 7 a side tournament in Bendigo playing against teams from across Australia winning all games to be undefeated and claim the Championship.
■ Kyabram Football Club.
Kyabram Senior Football Team created history by continuing their winning streak now 28 games the best on record throughout Victoria.
■ The Wedge Ski Racing Team.
The Kyabram based team of Scott Collins, David Atley, Matthew Henderson and Brent Dunstall continued its stellar season by taking out the 2017 GTS Mildura 100 70mph expert class in the time of 49min 27seconds.
■ Valley View Ladies Golf Team
Helen Armstrong, Jan McHale, Tracey Wade, Judy Greer and Bev Lyon winning the Goulburn Valley Gold Division 3 Pennant Premiership.
■ Parkland Mens Golf Team
Jackson Gentle, Jamie Baker, Michael D’Augello, David Cartwright and Glen Cartwright winning the Division 2 Goulburn Valley District Pennant Premiership.
