United played in spectacular and dominant form. At half-time the score was Shepp United 6.6 (42) leading Ky 0.2 (2).

Following encouraging words from the coaches at the main break, the Ky boys lifted and laid strong tackles and forced multiple turnovers. Ky’s backline fought hard and stopped an onslaught of goals from Shepp United. Players to be noted leading the defensive charge were Liam Scopelliti, Jack Nevill, Blake McAuliffe and Nixon Torney.

Billy Preddy played with passion and courage, earning many turnovers and delivering strong kicks into Ky’s forward line. During the last half Ky were able to convert five goals, two to Zav Briggs.

Ky was beaten by a strong team on the day, the final score being Shepp United 14.9 (93) defeated Ky 5.4 (34).

Another lesson for Ky saw the team lift and dig deep.

Coaches Scott Fleming and Leigh Hall were positive about the team’s room for improvement and the courage shown by the boys in the face of such strong opposition.

Best on ground: Mitch Fitzgerald, followed respectively by Kaleb Williams, Nixon Torney, Sam Plumb, Billy Preddy and Blake McAuliffe.
