KYABRAM’S James Woods represented his community with aplomb at the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Doncaster last month.
The 16-year-old St Augustine’s College student finished first in the under 18 pole vault event with a massive 4.70m jump, and came equal second in the under 17 high jump with 1.94m.
His pole vault effort broke the state country record, while both jumps were personal bests.
James’ mum, Andrea Woods, said this latest success won’t satisfy him for long, as he’s always looking ahead to the next challenge.
“He’s very modest. He just does a fist pump and moves on,” she said.
“He always wants to do better and continue to break his records.”
James has booked his spot in the Australian All Schools Championships to be held in Perth in December, where he will come up against the best young talents the country has to offer.
